Camino Day 32: Cacabelos to La Portela de Valcarce

Sickness continues, but we still walked 14.6 miles today! Usually we choose alternative routes away from roads, often with beautiful views and higher climbs. Today, because I'm sick, we chose the low, easy route by the road, and I'm very glad we did. In part because it was less tiring, but also because it was beautiful-- a winding road along a river in the forest shade. We walked all day to the sound of falling water.

The end of our Camino looms large. We can count the time remaining in days now, not weeks, and that feels strange and unreal. Too often our journey has felt impossible and never-ending, but soon it will be over. Tomorrow, we will pass the 400 mile mark, and we will have less that 100 miles to Santiago. One step at a time the miles, the days, fall away.
