Camino Day 16: Atapuerca to Burgos

We FINALLY made it to Burgos. At times in the past two weeks, it felt like an impossible goal, but here we are. This marks the 40% completion point to Santiago. We got a room in a nice hotel and relaxed. Then we explored the ornate 13th century cathedral, its many newer chaples, and spectacular cloisters. The cathedral even houses a da Vinci work-- her face as unmistakably da Vinci as the Mona Lisa. Finally, we sampled the local blood sausage and other tapas on Plaza Mayor before falling into bed, exhausted. Tomorrow: onward toward the meseta. 13.8 miles.
