Camino Day 4: Zubiri to Pamplona

Today was supposed to be an easy day. There was to real climbing. The rises were low and gradual. For half the day, the trail follows a mercurial waterway-- sometimes a placid creek, and other times a crashing river--, and then climbs gradually over a sun baked hill and into the suburbs of Pamplona. After three days of strenuous climbing, however, my body did not find the walk any too easy. The last two miles, over cement and cobblestones, was painful, and a soak in a hot bath couldn't come soon enough. We will rest and recover for an extra day in the city, and contine our Camino on Monday, hopefully with happier feet and bellies full of tinto vino and pinchos.
