Via di Francesco, Day 15: Valfabbrica to Assisi

We took our time today. We smelled flowers, looked for fish in every stream, and fed grass to pigs, goats, and donkeys.  We listened to the wind and looked long at every viewpoint.

Assisi is an end point for many pilgrims, and today was an ending for one pilgrim in particular, whom we have walked with for many days. So we walked slowly and savored every moment. We climbed the last hill into Assisi with gusto. We shared a rich dinner with a beautiful view. And we wished Christine a buon cammino. Tomorrow, we will walk on with one fewer set of footprints on the road.
